The problem
The business had many customer actions that needed to trigger follow-up work: tags, segmentation, webhooks, external processing, and special workflows outside the normal Keap interface.
The solution
I built and maintained multiple Keap automations supported by custom PHP, MySQL, WordPress plugin code, and API endpoints. Keap could trigger work, but custom code handled the parts that needed more control.
How the workflow moved
- Customer and lead actions triggered Keap automation steps.
- Tags and campaign actions routed contacts into the right workflow.
- Webhooks sent data to custom endpoints when Keap needed outside processing.
- Custom code completed the business-specific work and updated records as needed.
Why it mattered
The automations helped Keap act as part of a broader business system instead of a closed CRM silo.
